Legeti & Chen Yi
A new series of contemporary classical chamber music from the 20th century and beyond.
Featuring
Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music New Music Ensemble
Following the successful debut of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music New Music Ensemble, this second concert features the music of two modern composers whose lives and music were profoundly affected by political upheavals - Gyorgy Ligeti, who survived the Nazi occupation and the Communist revolution in Hungary, and Chen Yi, who grew up through the Cultural revolution in China. Conducted by Chan Tze Law, the ensemble will perform Ligeti's Chamber Concerto (1969-1970) and Chen Yi's Suite for Cello and Chamber Winds (2004) as well as work by a Singapore-based composer and two Conservatory student composers.
